Supporting Whole Family Well-Being and Advocacy

Funded by The Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities (GCPD), Facilitated by Aligned Consulting Collaborative

The Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities (GCPD) wants to work with people who have a developmental disability, their family members, and organizations or groups who support them to:

  • Identify strengths and gaps in supports for families in Indiana

  • Develop recommendations for strategies to support families

  • Inform the needed infrastructure for collaborative, ongoing supports for families across the state

This journey begins with 3 Summits which are summarized in the drop-down menu as well as individual landing pages for each summit.

Background

  • On June 12th, the first of three Summits was held. You can review the Summit Summary in many ways by clicking these links or going to the Summit 1 page.

  • The second of three summits will be held on September 24th. Summaries will be shared here as soon as possible.

  • The third and final summit will be held on November 19th. Summaries and the final recommendations will be shared here as soon as possible.

Who’s Involved

As a group, we have developed a set of core values and group agreements that guide our collaborative work:

All supports for families - and infrastructures that are designed to provide them - should be driven by a set of core values that dismantle the current power structures and elevate the expertise of the families themselves.

  • Aiming for mutual benefits

  • Accepting that families may look different

  • Meeting people where they are

  • Encouraging everyone to both give and receive

  • Avoiding an “us versus them” mentality
